This two hour presentation will provide an updated overview of the Human Immuno-deficiency virus and the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. A background overview regarding the history, trends and national statistics will be reviewed. Several HIV testing methods along with treatment regimens will be examined. Transmission variables will also be discussed along with up to date prevention measures. AIDS prevention methods will be emphasized as well as issues involving safe sex, lifestyle changes, pre-natal care, substance abuse, and discrimination will be fully discussed.
